Due to COVID- 19, most people all over the world opt to wear masks for the protection of themselves and others. With Summer approaching in Japan, UNIQLO lovers asked them to make masks made with their famous AIRism material. Since the weather turns hot and humid in June-July in Japan, there are concerns around wearing masks which can cause asphyxia.

Keeping these concerns in mind, UNIQLO launched its special anti-viral, anti-bacterial, and UV protection, AIRism Mask in June of 2020. These masks are breathable, cooling, quick-drying, and have built-in UV protection. The masks utilize a patent-pending three-layer AIRism structure with an exterior with UV protection qualities that block 90 percent of ultraviolet rays. Behind that layer is a high-performance filter with 99 percent Bacterial Filtration Efficiency. The filter blocks water droplets, bacteria particles, virus particles and pollen. The interior is a non-woven fabric of cotton that wicks away sweat to remain cool increasing the wearing comfort of the mask.

The masks are available in three sizes – small, medium and large. The masks can easily be washed in the washing machine for up to 20 times. The masks are for now available only in Japan, but soon talks are on for a worldwide launch.

UNIQLO, a premium clothing brand in Japan is known for comfort clothing. The AIRism Mask is supposed to feel just as light and airy as the usual AIRism wear from UNIQLO. The cooling textile might make the hot summer in a mask a little more bearable.
