Bakers community collaborates to raise awareness for equality through cake designs.
The cake and baking community actively participates in collaborations that are meant to be a way for the cake artists to show their creativity and skills while inspiring others! The community has used their art to spread awareness about important social problems.
This month saw a huge movement wherein cake artists used their art to bring attention to the Black lives matter movement with the hashtag #blmbakercollab. Several designers have given meaning to their cakes, portraying the situation with an intensity that is moving. Many even put up their cakes for auction and used the money raised as a donation towards this growing human rights movement.
Several international Instagram pages with a wide reach were called out by others for their lack of coverage of African American Bakers, Wilton being one such brand.
Another collaboration called #bakeforbreonna started by Ruby Birns, CEO Dynamicgirls.org was the community tribute to Breona, a woman of African American origin who lost her life due to police brutality. Several Indian Bakers such as The Cake Dress by Ranjana Yadav and Heena Arora, Funky Batter also participated in this movement extending their support from India.
