Cake artists bring back old art style, pointillism, to design their cakes.
The cake decorating community is constantly incorporating art into their designs. The cakes are like a canvas and the results are absolutely astonishing. A new trend has come up on the block and several cake artists are finding themselves inspired. This technique is known as ‘ Pointillism’.
Pointillism was first developed in 1886 and marked the neo-impressionist period. This art form has now been brought back to adorn cakes and create edible art pieces. Evident enough from the name this technique makes use of points or dots to make interesting patterns on the cake. These could be geometric, mandala, or even full-fledged artwork.
The design is engaging but also difficult to carry out. Ohio based cake artist @thepetitepudding has given the community some really inspiring cakes made with this technique. With some practice, it can be used on cupcakes and cookies too.
