French neurotech NextMind’s groundbreaking and non-invasive brain-sensing is a next-generation AI-powered device called Dev Kit. This technology executes orders just by sensing the thoughts of the person wearing it. By placing a group of sensors against a person’s scalp, the device extracts neural signals from the visual cortex and sends them to an outside computer. This computer further translates electrical brain signals into readable commands, unlocking the potential of direct brain command to surrounding technology. This invention attempts to eliminate the need for any manual effort towards technology by using one’s thoughts to carry out the required actions.
Dev Kit has a small, light-weight, round device that fits into the back of a cap or headband and rests gently on the user’s head. The device has received an overwhelming response from the gaming and entertainment industries. Although NextMind developed the device for developers with a certain knowledge of AI, it is also being picked by regular consumers for it is fun to use and comes with interesting demos and mini-games. The device has attracted collaboration from the auto world and in the near future, you might be able to drive a car without having to put your hands on the wheel.
