VR Company Talespin has created Barry Thompson to practice firing an employee.
Firing people in a workspace can be difficult anticipating what might be the reaction but it could definitely get easier if you practice it. Talespin, a VR company that develops virtual and augmented reality training programs for Fortune 500 partners including Telecom, Finance and Farmers Insurance companies created Barry.
Barry is meant to teach employers one of the soft skills of how to fire an employee. Barry could have multiple reactions to its termination from disappointment to angry yelling to help one prepare on how a human could react to the news. Barry’s striking resemblance to humans makes this practice a fruitful one; grey hair, bags under his eyes give it a strong pinch of reality. This way users can learn about how to deal with situations. Talespin’s created virtual humans also give users a chance to practice other difficult situations like negotiating, giving feedbacks and selling.
