As per the latest update, Spotify users will now be able to type the lyrics and get to the song title easily in the app.
The news of testing real-time lyrics synced to music was confirmed by Spotify last November. The Swedish audio streaming giant has now launched its new lyric feature in 26 markets worldwide across India, Latin America and Southeast Asia. The feature is integrated into the main search function which now returns song, playlist, album and matching lyrics result.
The launch is being made possible by a new agreement with lyrics provider Musixmatch, which was also the source for the tests seen last year. Earlier when you were not sure about the name of a song, apps like Shazam worked great if the song was playing. However, it didn’t work quite as well when you tried to sing a few lyrics into your phone. Thanks to Spotify, this problem has now been simplified for both android and ios users, by adding the handy option to type in the lyrics when searching for songs.
This update provides real-time lyrics in the language in which the songs are sung. Users can access this feature by clicking on the “lyrics” button on the bottom of the now playing screen. The development was announced by Lina, the Spotify search designer on twitter. “My team has shipped something on iOS and android – now you can find the song by lyrics on Spotify.”, she tweeted on 5th October. This brings Spotify on the same level as apple music that has been providing the lyrics’ search option since 2018. It had brought the same feature to its music application with the introduction of iOS 12.
