Google has come up with something that will definitely have the potential to revolutionize shopping on the web. Google introduced a new video shopping platform for discovering, evaluating and buying products, all in one place named Shoploop. It aims to help people experience the look and feel of products they’re shopping for in real life without going to a physical store by providing product reviews from real people who are knowledgeable about the products in a particular area. The video will be no more than 90 seconds long. Not only that, once a user selects a product that he/she wishes to buy, but the platform also provides a merchant’s website from where you can directly get the product. In the initial phase, the application mainly focuses on makeup and skincare.

The feature by Google is similar to what Flipkart releases on its app around two months ago and Instagram has also rolled out the shop feature in the past. Google has an added advantage though, Its customer base can’t be compared to that of above stated companies. The overlooked opportunity for Google will be how to grow quickly in all the niche and provide product reviews of possibly all the products and services worldwide so that it could actually provide the services it aims to.
