2020 so far has kept all students at home. It seems likely that the coming few months will also see only online education holding the forefront. In this scenario, all professions which need experience and physical training have taken a blow. One of them is the training of surgical procedures among resident doctors since all elective surgeries have been put on hold owing to the COVID-19. Due to the lack of hands-on experience, new surgeons are sure to feel unprepared while performing procedures independently.
A Canadian company, called Precision OS are making VR surgical training tools that can be used to train next generation surgeons and upskill existing surgeons. While performing procedures on the VR, the end-user is able to make decisions and assess the impact of the same. Since all the procedures are simulated, the surgeon gets a grip on operational intricacies.
Although Precision OS was not developed keeping the pandemic in mind, it is becoming a prominent tool for practice in the current scenario
